Scott Simpson

I am a history major pursuing a concentration in African Studies as I finish up my sophomore year at Haverford College. This semester, I did an independent study with Professor Mutombo Nkulu-N’Sengha (full time at Temple) which focused on the Western perception of Africa. The study culminated in a 25-page essay which will be featured in Professor Mutombo’s next book, discussing my own perception of Africa and how this has changed with my college education . I am currently serving as Vice President of the Haverford Students' Council and have recently been elected to serve as President for next year. I am interested in politics, and have been particularly skeptical of Bush's war on terror; I have been fortunate enough to have an opportunity to devote my summer to educating people about the dangers to civil rights caused by this popular new "war". In my spare time, I enjoy listening to, playing, and studying jazz, as well as playing and watching sports. When I am not in college, I live in Englewood, NJ.
